Surface Preparation
- All surfaces clean, dry, and free of grease or contaminants
- Drywall seams properly taped and feathered
- Nail pops and fastener heads set and spackled
- Holes and cracks patched and sanded smooth
- Texture applied uniformly where specified
- Primer coat applied to all bare drywall
- All window and door trim caulked (interior — paintable caulk)
- Base shoe / quarter-round gaps caulked
- Masking / drop cloth protection in place
- Adjacent surfaces protected from overspray or lap marks
Interior — Walls & Ceilings
- Ceiling cut-in lines clean — no roller splatter on walls
- Wall cut-ins clean — no ceiling paint on walls
- All corners fully covered — no holidays (bare spots)
- Two coats applied per spec
- Sheen level consistent throughout room
- Roller lap marks not visible in raking light
- No brush marks visible in finished sheen
- Color matches approved sample / swatch
- Door reveals (inside of door jamb) painted correct color
- Closets — walls, ceiling, and shelf face painted
Trim, Doors & Windows
- All trim painted two finish coats
- Doors painted both faces and top/bottom edges
- Hinges clean — no paint on hardware
- Door handles / locksets protected or removed before painting
- Window sashes painted and operational — not painted shut
- Window sill cut-in clean against glass
- Casing miters — paint fully into corners
- No runs or sags on vertical trim surfaces
Exterior (if applicable)
- All wood surfaces primed before top coat
- Lap siding — back-priming on all cut ends
- Caulking at all butt joints and trim intersections
- Fascia and soffit fully coated
- Trim color matches approved color scheme
- Foundation coat / waterproof coat applied
- No paint on windows, masonry, or metal flashing
Final Punch & Touch-Up
- Touch-up paint for all dings and nicks from other trades
- Hardware reinstalled after painting
- Drop cloths removed and floors clean
- All paint cans labeled and leftover paint provided to owner
- Final walk-through with owner / GC approved
