Plumbing Punch List Template
Free printable plumbing punch list template for underground, rough-in, top-out, trim, and final inspection sign-off on new construction and renovations.
Underground / DWV
- Pipe slope: 1/4 in per ft on 3-in or smaller, 1/8 in per ft on 4-in+
- Cleanouts installed at required intervals
- Pipe bedding material correct
- All connections glued / joined properly
- Pressure test or ball test passed
- Sleeve through foundation wall installed
- Final inspection by AHJ before backfill
Rough-In Plumbing
- All supply stubs at correct heights per fixture schedule
- Hot on left, cold on right at all fixtures
- Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) roughed in per plan
- All vent pipes penetrate roof — no tie-ins at wrong locations
- All pipe penetrations firestopped
- Water service properly sleeved through foundation
- PRV (pressure reducing valve) installed if required
- Water hammer arrestors at washing machine and dishwasher
- Stub-outs capped and pressure-tested (100 psi, 15 min)
- Pipe hangers within 12 in of each joint and every 4 ft on horizontal runs
Fixture Trim & Final
- All fixtures installed and secured
- Toilets: properly sealed to flange, no movement
- Lavatories: drain and P-trap properly installed
- Kitchen sink: strainer basket, drain, and disposal connected
- Dishwasher: high-loop or air gap installed
- Showers: pan liner / waterproofing tested before tile
- Tub and shower valves: covers trimmed, escutcheons tight
- Water heater: TPR valve installed and piped to floor
- Water heater: expansion tank installed if closed system
- Hose bibs: vacuum breakers installed
- All shutoff valves operational
- No visible leaks after 48-hour observation
- Water pressure tested — meets local code minimum
- Final walk-through with owner complete
Gas (if applicable)
- Gas line properly sized
- Pressure test passed (30-min hold)
- Earthquake shutoff valve installed (required jurisdictions)
- Drip leg at each appliance
- Gas range / dryer hookup complete and leak-tested
- Permit final signed off
